Cobbs Ranch- Pumpkin Patch (10/24/04)
4th July, 2004 Portland OR
We flew into Portland Saturday July 3. My Aunt & Uncles condo is right on the Columbia River. (Below are some views)
Check back because there are better pictures from other family members I intend to get up just as soon as they e-mail them to us.
We hung out at the condo while the family slowly trickled in from all of the different parts we each call home. The first night we all ate together in an orderly fashion. Well as orderly as this clan gets. Somehow as an adult I was still at the kids table. Funny how that works. Actually we just labled the other table as the "Old Fart" table. I have to give a shout out to my cousins for educating me on wine tasting. It was a very interesting conversation and I loved every bit of it. I had forgotten that they met while working at Firestone Winery. Can't wait to go wine tasting with them sometime! Below are some pics of the first evening. One more thing that I thought was neat was that it didn't get dark until 10pm. Being from mid California, I was used to it being dark no later than 8:30ish. Talk about throwing off the internal system...
This picture, by the way, is the moto of my family, thus I leave it by itself. Please take a moment to truly appreciate it. Thanks to cousin Kevin.

K. Next up we have the 4th of July. We hung out at the hotel most of the morning before we headed over to the condo to hang out. We were told we were going to see the biggest fireworks show this side of the Mississippi. We mostly took it with a grain of salt & moved on. If you refer back to the photos at the top the land you see is actually Washington State. Just on the other side is an old Fort. Apparently each year they have this huge party with sky divers, music, the whole deal topped off with the fireworks show. Now, the condo being on the other side of the river, we got to watch for free. :0) I'm liking how this worked! It was by far the most amazing, probably never to be topped, fireworks show I've ever seen. It was incredible & on going for 40 mins. It sounded like we were in the middle of a battlefield. This didn't phase either of the kids though because Chance slept right through it & Skylar fell asleep about 10 mins into it!
The family including my niece Emma Group photo of all the 2nd cousins. (Alex & Alisa)
The girls out on the porch enjoying all the stuff going on.
A very tired mom due to no sleep the night before... Starting to get dark & a bit on the chilly side.
(to be continued...)
Trip to the Zoo
Getting ready to go....cute pig tales. Didn't last long though. We are working getting them to stay a tad bit longer.
The kids got loaded up into their wagon (from Papa's house) and they were ready to go!
The wagon lasted all about ......mmmm......10, maybe 15 mins.
Close up of face...
Look at that mouth!!
Daddy so graciously took on the camel for mommy who, as usual, said "Photo op!" (Translation...I don't wanna....)
Sitting on a fake rhino
Watching the seals...great fun laughing.
Missy Lou Skylar, all tuckered out and comfy with mammason. Mammason....wondering how long she can hold 26 lbs of dead weight.
First Family Vacation: Monterey- Memorial Day 2004
Leguna Seca Speedway
We were in my parents 5th wheel & this is the lookout from their camp spot out over the speedway. When we were there it was the Porsche club racing. Course we didn't think to take pictures with the race going on.
The first evening we just got in and settled. Skylar ran around outside most of the evening. She was pretty tuckered out by the time her bedtime came. Below are pictures of us in the 5th wheel.
The "plan" was that Skylar would sleep in her own bed, Ron & I would sleep in theirs, and Chance would sleep in his play pin. That went down hill about......oh...say 10pm. Skylar, being in a strange place wanted her mom. So I went to sleep with her. In what can only be the kids bed. I was way too long for it. So most of the night I was awake trying to get comfy. (Diagonally) About 3am I finally had to get up. I ended up waking Chance. So off to bed he went with Ron. Here are the 'good morning' pictures.
Today it was off to the Monterey Acquarium. Woohoo!
Fun was had by all. As you can see above, Chance was enjoying his entertainment so much he fell asleep! (Shout out to work for providing the awesome double stroller as a baby gift. Thanks again! Best gift)

This is our "hmmmm" photo. I'd like to come up with something clever to say we were doing....however I'm not coming up with anything.

Ron & I "glistening" after the 5 mile ride...
Dad and the kids ready to go!! Chance giggled with delight all the way down our bumpy driveway.
Tux, just kicking it. Waiting for Stormy to come by so she can pounce on her. Stormy afraid to move for fear she'll be attacked.

Well here is a recent picture of the kids. Chance is growing like a weed and is about 18lbs. At 5 months. Man is he heavy. In other news the whole family is recovering form a bout with the sickness. Two sick parents + two sick kids = no fun.
